Life of Sardar Virendra Paul Singh

15th December 1941 – 23rd May 2026

Sardar Virendra Paul Singh was born on 15th December, 1941, to Sardar Nazar Singh and Sardarni Bachan Kaur. His father served as a Railway Superintendent, and his mother was a homemaker. V.P. grew up lovingly among his four siblings.

He completed his schooling in Ferozepur and Moga, where he distinguished himself as a brilliant student. He was a State of Punjab Gold Medalist in Matriculation (Class 10), a State-level Elocution Champion, and a State-level Singing Champion, consistently achieving exceptional academic results. He later gained admission to the esteemed Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh.

After completing his Mechanical Engineering degree in 1963, he joined Indian Oxygen Limited as an Engineer. He quickly rose through the ranks and served the multinational organization in various leadership roles for 30 years, with Executive Director as his last position at the company. He then joined Hindustan Electro Graphite of the LNJ Bhilwara Group as their CEO, where he worked for 10 years before retiring from corporate life. He then continued to serve actively as an Advisor–Corporate Relations on the Executive Board of the prestigious Jaipuria Institute of Management, Noida, as he believed in giving back to the community and helping grow the next generation of leaders. 

He found his ideal life partner in Herjit Kaur, and they married in 1974. They were blessed with two children: a daughter, Avneet Kaur, who currently works for Disney and has been settled in Los Angeles for the past 25 years, and a son, the late Jasneet Paul Singh, who sadly passed away in 2018 after a decade-long terminal illness.

V.P., as he was fondly known among friends, was a charismatic and confident visionary, known for his exceptional leadership and management skills. He was an avid reader, widely travelled across several countries, and brought a rare depth of global perspective and insight to everything he did.

He remained in excellent health for most of his life until 2013, when he was initially diagnosed with atypical Parkinson’s disease. The illness gradually progressed and eventually affected his motor skills severely. Always smiling, he bravely battled the disease for 12 years and finally left for his heavenly abode on 23rd May 2026.

His wife, daughter, grandchildren, family, and friends will forever remember him with deep respect, love, and gratitude for his integrity, resilience, leadership, and vision, and for the warmth, wisdom, and inspiration he brought into every life he touched.
