In Loving Memory of Shri Paramjit Singh Sodhi (1941–2026)

With profound sorrow and deep gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we remember Shri Paramjit Singh Sodhi, who peacefully departed for his heavenly abode in July 2026 at the age of 84.

He is lovingly survived by his son Rajat Sodhi, daughter Minna Sodhi, daughter-in-law Topsy Ahluwalia, son-in-law Amrit Pratap Mathur, and his three beloved grandchildren, Tina, Nyssa, and Niel. He was the pillar that held the family together, binding each of us with his unwavering values, quiet strength, and unconditional love. His warmth, wisdom, and selfless affection will forever remain the foundation of our family.

Born in 1941, Shri Sodhi received his schooling at the iconic Khalsa College, Amritsar, where his academic brilliance was evident from an early age. On the strength of his outstanding merit, he earned admission to the prestigious Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh, graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. Alongside his academic achievements, he was an enthusiastic sportsman with a deep passion for hockey and other athletic pursuits.

He began his distinguished professional journey with Heavy Engineering Corporation, Ranchi. During his tenure there, he successfully cleared the prestigious UPSC examination and joined the Ordnance Factories Organisation. His first posting was at the Gun Carriage Factory, Jabalpur, where he served with dedication for over two decades. A highly respected and accomplished officer, he made remarkable contributions to manufacturing excellence while also promoting sports by organizing hockey, weightlifting, and bodybuilding events, inspiring countless individuals both professionally and personally.

His exceptional leadership and integrity earned him progressive responsibilities throughout his illustrious career. He served as Deputy Director General at the Ordnance Factory Headquarters, Kolkata, followed by his appointment as General Manager, Ordnance Factory Dehradun. He later returned to Vehicle Factory Jabalpur as Senior General Manager, and before his retirement, was elevated to the distinguished position of Member, Ordnance Factory Board, Kolkata. Throughout his career, he was widely admired for his exemplary service, professional excellence, humility, unwavering commitment to duty, and deep faith in God.

After retiring in 2001, he made Vasant Kunj, New Delhi, his home. Retirement marked the beginning of another enriching chapter of his life, devoted to spirituality, learning, and family. A deeply religious and philosophical soul, he remained a voracious reader throughout his life and possessed an insatiable curiosity about the world. His travels across India and abroad reflected his visionary outlook and love for exploring diverse cultures and ideas. Above all, he was a devoted husband who cared for his beloved wife, Mrs. Mohani Sodhi, with extraordinary love, patience, and compassion during her illness.

Shri Paramjit Singh Sodhi leaves behind not only a remarkable legacy of professional excellence but also a life defined by integrity, humility, kindness, and unwavering devotion to his family. His family, friends, colleagues, and all whose lives he touched continue to cherish the countless memories he gifted them. The overwhelming love and respect shown by those who gathered to pay their final respects during the Antim Ardas and Kirtan in Noida stand as a testament to the extraordinary life he lived.

Though he is no longer with us in person, his values, guidance, and love will continue to illuminate our lives forever.

I feel extremely sad to learn that my friend Paramjit has left all of us for his heavenly abode. He was not only my classmate in PEC but my batchmate in the service. Both of us joined Indian Ordnance Factory Service together in 1965 and retired from Ordnance Factory Board Kolkata. He was a very nice, gentle, sweet, soft spoken and intelligent personality not only in college but in later life. His leaving us is a personal loss to me.
