Foundation Stone Laid for New Boys’ Hostel at PEC to Strengthen Student Residential Infrastructure

Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Mr. Gulab Chand Kataria laid the foundation stone for a new ₹17 crore Boys’ Hostel at Punjab Engineering College (PEC), marking another significant step towards enhancing the institute’s campus infrastructure and student facilities.

The proposed G+6 hostel building, spread over approximately 78,400 sq. ft., will feature 103 triple-sharing rooms, providing accommodation for 309 students, along with two guest rooms and a warden’s room. The project is expected to be completed within 18 months and will offer modern, safe, and comfortable residential facilities, supporting a more conducive environment for academic excellence.
With the completion of this project and another ongoing hostel initiative, PEC’s total hostel accommodation capacity will increase from 2,178 to 2,906 students, adding 728 new seats to meet the growing demand for on-campus housing.

The foundation stone ceremony was attended by Miss Prerna Puri, Secretary (Engineering), Miss Palika Arora, Director (Technical Education), Prof. Rajesh Kumar Bhatia, Director, PEC, CB Ojha, Chief Engineer, and other senior officials. The project reflects the continued commitment of the Chandigarh Administration towards strengthening educational infrastructure and enhancing student amenities at PEC.
